Is Modi Govt serious to curb encephalitis and save thousands of children?

NEW DELHI (PTI Dec 22, 2014): Government today admitted in Lok Sabha that its measures to end encephalitis were not getting desired results as members voiced concern over the disease claiming lives of 1,495 people, mostly children, so far this year.

In a bid to increase efficacy of its drive against 'brain fever', which has been rather severe in parts of eastern UP and Bihar, Health Minister J P Nadda said the Centre will also involve MPs, MLAs and local bodies in this.

Yogi Adityanath ( BJP) was critical of the Centre, ruled by his party, saying whatever it was doing was not visible on the ground and more children have died in his constituency Gorakhpur than those killed by terrorism across the country.

"Despite our policies and funding, the results which should have come are not coming. We are alive to the sentiments expressed by members and committed to deal with the disease," Nadda said.

Citing figures, he said five most affected states except for Tamil Nadu have failed in spending central fund released to fight 'brain fever'. Bihar and West Bengal have used less than one per cent, Assam less than 10 per cent while UP has not sent even details, he said. Tamil Nadu has spent over 49 per cent.

LS College, Muzaffarpur creates history, gets ‘A’ grade accreditation from NAAC

All current as well as old students of historical L S College, Muzaffarpur has a reason to cheer on as college has been awarded A grade by the National Accreditation and Assessment Council (NAAC), the only college of north Bihar region to get 'A' grade accreditation with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.05 marks on a 4 point scale. Under the new grading system, CGPA reflects the quality status of higher educational institutions.  College principal Dr. Amarendra Narayan Yadav on Sunday received the mail from NAAC confirming the gradation. Due to this achievement, College has opened new channelfor massive financial assistance from University Grants Commission (UGC) for its all-round development in teaching and research work. Accreditation result was announced in the 66th meeting of Standing committee, constituted by the executive council of NAAC on December 10, 2014.

शर्मनाक ! शहीद खुदीराम बोस की चिता पर शौचालय

"शहीदों के चिताओं पर लगेंगे हर बरस मेले,

वतन पर मिटने वालों का यही बाकी निशां होगा!"

मगर अफ़सोस, यह स्थिति सबसे कम उम्र में फांसी की सजा पाने वाले खुदीराम बोस की चिता स्थली के मामले में बिल्कुल अलग है. न तो खुदीराम बोस की चिता स्थली पर कोई निशान बचा है, न ही हर बरस कोई मेला लगता है. हकीक़त तो यह है कि लगभग 18 वर्ष की उम्र में हँसते हँसते फांसी के फंदे को चूमने वाले अमर शहीद खुदीराम बोस की चिता स्थली पर शौचालय बना हुआ है.

शहादत भूमि पर शौचालय की बात सुनकर किसी को भी आश्चर्य होगा!कितना शर्मनाक है कि एक जाबांज शहीद की शहादत को सम्मान देने की वजाए वहां शौचालय बना दिया, जहाँ 11 अगस्त, 1908 को इस वीर क्रांतिकारी की चिता फांसी पर चढ़ाने के बाद सजाई गई थी. गंडक नदी के तट पर बसे सोडा गोदाम चौक, चंदवारा नाम से प्रसिद्ध यह जगह मुजफ्फरपुर स्थित केंद्रीय कारागार से करीब दो किलोमीटर के दायरे में ही है, जहाँ शहीद खुदीराम बोस को फांसी दी गई थी.

इस जगह की पुष्टि ऐतिहासिक दस्तावेज भी करते है.खुदीराम की फांसी के बाद जो समाचार बनारस से छपने वाले विख्यात साप्ताहिक समाचार-पत्र “भारत जीवन” के 17 अगस्त, 1908 के अंक में प्रकाशित हुआ था, वह इस प्रकार है :
